In November 2007, we opened Edinburgh’s only specialist bookshop for children, The Children’s Bookshop. The bookshop has been a great success – we were one of The Bookseller’s bookshops to watch in 2008 and have recently been short-listed for Independent Bookshop of the Year and Independent Children’s Bookshop of the Year.

Encouraged by the bookshop’s success, we decided to open The Fidra Gallery, summer exhibition of work by children’s illustrators. In September 2009, the gallery became The Edinburgh Bookshop.

The Edinburgh Bookshop is sister-shop to The Children’s Bookshop and is Edinburgh’s best independent bookshop. We pride ourselves in stocking an eclectic range of books we love, from the classics to the quirky and from beautifully illustrated non-fiction titles to the funkiest cult novel.

We are sure that we can find the right book for every type of reader - 'a personal shopping service for books' as one harrassed parent once descibed us.

Ordering

Obviously we don't have room for absolutely every title so we're happy to order books and delivery usually takes one or two days.

We have an diverse programme of events including author visits, signings and special celebrations. Schools, nurseries and local businesses can also benefit from a generous discount when ordering from us - contact the appropriate shop for more details.
